Golyamo Bukovo (Kodja Bukovo) Monastery "St. Petka"
The Golyamo Bukovo monastery is located in the Strandja mountain. It is about 4 km to the south-east of the village of Golyamo Bukovo (the village of Kodja Buk by 1934). It was founded in the 12th century and was restored in 1873. At present it functions periodically. The monastery itself is a complex including a three-nef church built in 1876 (pseudo-basilica) and a residential building. In the altar of the church is the holy spring "Jivopriemniy iztochnik". The monastery is a monument of culture. Men's, Patron Saint's day on Good Friday (movable).
Transport
The monastery is connected to the town of Sredets (29 km) by a second class road and a third class road to the north and to the town of Bolyarovo ( 42 km) - by the 79 second-class road - to the west.
