Vakarel Monastery "St. Petka"

The Vakarel monastery is located in the Vakarel mountain, part of the Ihtiman Sredna gora mountain. It is 2 km to the south of the village of Vakarel. Nowadays the monastery functions periodically. The monastery is a complex including a church - one-nef, one-apse and a residential building. Through the near village of Vakarel, located by the "Trakia" (Sofia - Plovdiv) motorway and on the rail-road Sofia - Plovdiv - Svilengrad, the Vakarel monastery is connected to any place throughout the country.Patron Saint`s day on 14 October
