Buhovo Monastery "St. Maria Magdalena"
The Buhovo monastery "St. Maria Magdalena" is located in the northern outskirts of the town of Buhovo. It was founded in the 16th century. In 2002 it was rebuilt and periodically operates at present. The monastery is a complex, including a church and a residential building.Patron Saint's day on 22 July
Location
The motorway A2 (Sofia - Burgas) passes 5,5 km to the south of the town of Buhovo.
History
The present one-nef, one-apse and quite rickety church was built in 1881 on the foundations of a large three-nef basilica (41x17 m), dating from the end of the 4th-the beginning of the 5th century. Nowadays the monastery is a monument of culture.
